What to say to the insurance company after an accident

Stick to facts: your name, your insurance, the plate numbers, and what you directly observed. Don't give a recorded statement until you understand what you're actually agreeing to, and don't guess at fault out loud. Maestro helps you understand your claim and stay organized, not negotiate it for you.

Should I give a recorded statement right away?

Not until you understand your claim. You're not obligated to give a recorded statement the same day, and it's fine to say you'll call back once you've had a chance to think.

What should I actually say to the adjuster?

Stick to what you directly know: names, insurance information, plate numbers, and the facts of what happened. Leave out guesses about fault or speed, those get sorted out separately.

Does Maestro negotiate my claim for me?

No. Maestro helps you understand your claim, document the damage properly, and stay on the repair, but the claim itself is between you and the insurance company.

What if the insurance company calls before I've talked to anyone?

You can always ask for a callback time. Taking an hour to get your facts straight doesn't hurt your claim, rushing into a statement can.
